At first read, I said oh this is off to a very slow start. The excitement of reading another “beastly” romance novel held my interest more than the actual story in the first few chapters. BUT by the end I was interested and all into it.
The glimpse of Evie and Williams’ relationship was so cute. When it ended, even though I felt the build up and knew it was coming I was still like damn that sucks. Imagine love going so good for so long being snatched from you in the blink of an eye because your car didn’t start. Also, imagine how many people that has happened to…YIKES.
Williams' father is so fake. How do you call and talk to your daughter in-law and try to forge a relationship with them when you know your plans. But then again isn’t that what flaw ass people do. You just don’t expect it to be someone THAT close to you…and that’s where people fuck up at. It’s almost always them!
Onyx was on the run and living like a dragon. Couldn’t sit down in one spot for nothing. The fact that she couldn’t stay in one location was a clue to her true self. But I honestly wouldn’t have guessed it because I was stuck on this being a werewolf story.
Her mother not showing her any affection was mind-boggling. Evie became emotionally selfish. I would have thought knowing that she’d be more affectionate with Onyx because Williams died the night before she was born, which left Evie the only living parent. However, now that I type that and think about it she’s an animal. What more can you expect? Animals are selfish and only fend for themselves most of the time.
Leigh was the light that Onyx needed. She and Echo finally being together was cute because she was starting to annoy me with that. Like, girl what was he supposed to do?! There are rules. Just because he loves you he was supposed to break them? It doesn’t work like that for everyone. I don’t know maybe I’m the problem again, because I was reading her parts like girlllllll shut uppppp. I understand being mad at her parents but being mad at everyone else for not doing what her parents didn’t do was so annoying.
Phoenix FINALLY let love in. Baby, Sir was so happy when they finally found their mate. He and Onyx finding their spot at the top of the mountain was full circle. Evie and Williams found a spot at the park and their daughter and her mate found theirs on the mountain top.
It sucks that all of the parents, except the Feywins, kept secrets that directly affected them from their children. None of those parents told her children who they really were until it was too late and the children found out on their own, were about to find out, or Sally told them. Ion like that, in the book or in life. Tell the truth. What’s the purpose in creating a secret that’s going to eventually come out anyway? It creates unnecessary drama, now or later. It makes no sense. What do you think?
I wanted to see Phoenix in beast mode killing his opps. I was surprised he didn’t transform when Onyx kissed Nyx. When she kissed and kneed Nyx I thought Phoenix was going to bite his head off immediately after. Onyx left with her grandparents letting her know just how much of a piece of shit they were to her coming back to them being ashes.
Sally says Phoenix will have to defend the pack again. My question is from who? The main opps are gone. Are there some that we didn’t see in Bulgaria? Is it the random uncle that popped up, Eric? My nosey ass wanna know.
What did you think of book one?
Will you be reading book two?
Do you think the parents should have kept those secrets?
Are the secrets worth keeping?
Who do you think the new opposition will be?
Stay Spooky and Aware,
-Elle
