Sons of Audiemar by SL Partee

Can I be honest?… This was a slow read for me 😬. It took me over a week to finish this book 🥴. It’s weird. Once I started reading, I wanted to get to the next part, but it was hard getting myself in the mood to actually pick it up. Usually, I’m driven by wanting to know what the characters are doing next. When I say “get to the next part,” it was more out of anticipation to finish the book, not like “oooooo I want the tea.” Was it that way for you, or is it just me?

Okay, now that I’ve gotten that out, let’s get into the contents of the book.

What do you think about the sons? I think they’re cute. It seems like their personalities reflect different characteristics of Audiemar. However, Audiemar doesn’t have a big presence in the book. People talk about him more than he actually speaks. What they say gives you a little insight into his actions and characteristics.

I felt for Coast when she found Sipes and Arwen in the bed together. It’s the fact that they were bold enough to do it in her bed—that’s craaaazy. I don’t know if I would’ve only grazed his shoulder though. My crazy self wouldn’t have wanted him to be able to use that arm again and would’ve actually shot him in it. She played with him and shouldn’t have. That’s why he thought it was okay to play with her and possibly kill her. Do you think she’s dead, or do you think Mozzi will be the one to die? Ooooor do you think they both lived? Do you think Sipes will find out the baby is his? And if he does, will he even care? Like, how do you shoot the mother of your child and not care? Is he that heartless or controlling? Does the street life really mean that much to him?

Ayla… is boring. Her man cheated, which was to be expected, he was a star athlete. The most interesting thing about her story is the “Cooking with Kya” aspect. I laughed when I found out her YouTube channel consists of her cooking while underdressed. Then she asked Audiemar if it would be okay to film content in their house. Annndddd she stood up for herself when they questioned her about it—that was the kicker for me.

I must admit, I did feel a little sorry for Ayla when Kong turned her down in the car after their group date night. I wish he would’ve better explained his thought process, but I guess… Yeeeeessss, I understand he’s grieving and emotionally detached, but sirrrrrrrrrr, grow up. There, I said it. My empathy only lasts so long before I start telling you to get it together. Maybe that makes me the bad person, but him not having a real relationship with his children would be a turn-off for me. Yes, he takes care of them, and yes, he loves them, but he has no real connection with them. That’s why those children act the way they do and why they attached to Ayla so quickly. Children aren’t crazy, they’re learning and need guidance. I feel sorry for them. I hope Ayla is mentally and emotionally able to stick around and help guide them. I’m not gonna lie, I don’t really care what happens between her and Kong.

While I don’t like her response to Dane’s tattoo, Inari is my favorite character. She’s done what she felt she needed to do to raise her family while still being the woman she wants to be. And mama dresses DOWN. She’s a logical thinker and goes after what she wants, I like that.

Moose… a crackhead 🫢🫨???!!!! Now you know Inari is not going for that. Like, SL Partee, when is she going to find out? There are so many ways the author could take this—I wonder if we’ll get there in book 2. I figured one of the sons would have an Achilles heel. I didn’t think it would be that, but I knew at least one would. I wonder if his usage will become a topic of conversation between the brothers or if it already has.

Mozzi… you should’ve left Nickel alone like Audiemar and your brothers told you to. Now look at you, smh. But Mozzi just seems like a yn, just one with money. I like how he showed up for Coast once he met her. It was a bit pushy, but at her age, I probably would’ve gone for it too. Let me be honest, I did go for it once, lol. Nothing like her situation, but still. But this ain’t about me 😂.

This book felt like a backstory of how a group of people came together. It had some interesting moments, but overall it read like a lot of fluff. I’m ready for book 2 just to see if reading book one was worth it. Am I truly invested in any of the stories? Not really tho, I just want to know what happened to the characters. And for that reason, I will be reading Sons of Audiemar 2.
